And a happy Halloween, too

And a happy Halloween, too

So, I’ve mentioned Project Knitmas a few times, but haven’t really blogged about it, so here it is. With Yule and Christmas less than two months away, I have been thinking ahead to what gifts I will give and to whom. I don’t have a very long list of people to buy for, so I decided that I would make something for 95% of giftees. I started an afghan for one of me friends at work, but I realized once I was half way finished that the yarn I was using wasn’t going to work, so I had to start all over. Frustrating, but not a huge deal. I am not certain I like the way it looks, though. I am using a lavendar and a verigrated yarn that has lavendar in it, but the two aren’t messing as well as I hoped.
I am going to make a scarf for a few people. They are so easy to do and don’t take much time, that I figured a scarf would be the best way to make something for everyone. I am using the Coney Island Fireworks pattern from the Stitch N Bitch book for two scarves. I haven’t decided about the others. Two of the scarves are for men, so I need a pattern that doesn’t look too girly.
Plus, I made this really cool scarf for myself last year (I think there’s a picture on Flickr), but I had to take it apart. I made it holding two pieces of yarn together and the scarf weighed about 40 pounds. It was too heavy to wear. I laughed about it at first, but I am not laughing now that I have to re-make it.
Oh well. I want to make something for my sister, but she is always around, so I don’t think that will happen.
So, are you making your Yule/Christmas/Hannukah plans yet?
I am so tired. I need to plan my Samhain ritual (I can’t believe I haven’t done that yet!). I am working on a few items for Project Knitmas (which I will blog about eventually). The fact that I bought The Sims 2: Pets over the weekend isn’t helping anything, though (the kittens and puppies are so cute!).
So I am off knit and wait for Heroes to come on.

A major research institution has just announced the discovery of the densest element yet known to science. The new element has been named “Bushcronium.” Bushcronium has one neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 224 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 311. These particles are held together by dark forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. The symbol for Bushcronium is “W”. Bushcronium’s mass actually increases over time, as morons randomly interact with various elements in the atmosphere and become assistant deputy neutrons in a Bushcronium molecule, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientists to believe that Bushcronium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as “Critical Morass”. When catalyzed with money, Bushcronium activates Foxnewsium, an element that radiates orders of magnitude more energy, albeit as incoherent noise, since it has 1/2 as many peons but twice as many morons.
Dear Cleaning People,
Please stop moving things around on my desk, for I am OCD and you are driving me insane.
Smooches,
WG
What the fuck is wrong with Blogrolling? Why does it say that ALL my links have been updated when they most certainly have not?!
Stupid piece of poo. There’s a reason why I don’t pay for that service anymore.
Garnet tagged me, so here we go.

6) One book you wish you’d written: To Kill a Mockingbird
7) One book you wish had never been written: I wouldn’t wish such a thing.
One book you’re currently reading: The Memory Keeper’s Daughter
9) One book you’ve been meaning to read: War and Peace
10) Tag five people: OK. I tag Sabrina, Manic, Cassie, Lani, and Rose.
I’m going to see how long I can keep this “Hero” song title theme going when discussing this show.
So, Heroes. Was that not the coolest TV moment EVER when Claire woke up during her own autopsy? Truly stellar if I do say so myself. What’s up with her dad, though? Is he a big bad or some sort of protector of the heroes? I can see it going either way.
Nikki and Claire are the best part of the show. I love the mystery that surrounds Nikki and Claire’s innocence and personal struggle with what is happening to her is fantastic. They are definitely my favorites.
Hiro and Ando, eh. They are OK. I think they will become better characters as the show progresses, but right now they are just a little bland. Plus, they both need to start speaking English soon. I am way tired of the subtitles.
On the other hand, I cannot fucking stand Peter and Isaac. Talk about two lackluster pussies. What whiney little bitches they are! I am so not into their story lines. The two of them could be the next vicitims of Syler for all I care. They just bug me.
Oh, and the cop, whatever his name is, he’s kinda lame for such a cool power. Hearing people’s thoughts should have gone to someone with a little more pizzazz.
So, what do you think?
I found this nugget of coolness in my email today

I said yes, natch.
Actually, it’s not going to be quite so lazy. I have to pick up the sister at 1:30. Today is her last day at the old job and she starts the new one tomorrow. I’ve got to go to Walmart and get her some khaki pants and a polo shirt. Then, I have to make the voyage to Sam’s and Kroger.
After that, I am going to stop at Great Clips and cut off all my hair. My depression is hitting me hard today. Probably because my regular Friday session with the head doc got cancelled. So, in an effort to pull myself out of it, I am going to wreak havoc on my hair.
And then I will hopefully make some progress on the current knitting project.
